The Standard Chartered Marathon Singapore 2011 will take you through the multi-faceted and culturally diverse cosmopolitan city. Be greeted by the iconic Singapore landmarks such as the Marina Barrage and Helix Bridge if you decide to take part in the Full Marathon; while the Half Marathon route will take you through Singapore's island getaway, Sentosa and the Universal Studios.
Transportation
Be it the bus, Mass Rapid Transport (MRT) or taxi/cab, getting around Singapore is a breeze. Tourists can purchase a Singapore Tourist Pass which allows them unlimited rides on Singapore's public transport system which includes the MRT, Light Rail Transit (LRT) and basic bus services.
Singapore's bus services network is formed by a duopoly between SBS Transit and SMRT. Whether you travel with SBS Transit or SMRT, you can pay by cash or purchase the Singapore Tourist Pass from selected TransitLink Ticket Office in Singapore.
The MRT system is probably the fastest way to get around Singapore other than the taxis/cabs. Besides being one of the cleanest transport systems in the world, the MRT provides scenic views of our heartland and city areas, with great access to almost every part of Singapore. You can download the train route map from www.smrt.com.sg and use it to navigate your way around our island.
Taxis/cabs are the most convenient way to travel around Singapore. You should be able to hail a taxi/cab without any problems in most parts of Singapore. You may want to remember though, that vehicles are not allowed to wait or even stop at parts of the roads with painted double yellow or jagged lines. It is always best to get a taxi/cab from one of the numerous taxi stands in Singapore – hotels and shopping centre taxi stands.
