  • Half Marathon

  • Kids Dash

Participants will be disqualified, and no timing will be provided if they do not run in the category that they have registered for. Participants who do not start within 30 minutes from their respective flag-off times will also be disqualified.

What if two (or more) of my children are participating in different categories for Kids Dash but only one parent is available to attend? (E.g. One child is two years old and the other is five years old)

Only one parent / guardian* issued with an identification tag** will be allowed to accompany any child aged six years and below.

The older child/children will have to participate in the younger age group category along with his / her elder sibling(s) under the supervision of the parent / guardian*. This is only applicable if both children are six years and below.

You can also get a family member to act as the guardian* to one of your children in his/her own race category, provided that your child’s category is for kids six years and below. Please ensure that the guardian puts on the identification tag during the race.

*Guardians for Kids Dash have to be at least 18 years old and above.
**A wristband is provided in the race pack together with your child’s bib

*Guardians for Kids Dash have to be at least 18 years old and above.

If I cannot make it for the race due to last minute commitments, can I get a friend to take my place?

No. Race entries are strictly non-transferable. In the interest of the runners’ well-being and safety, the Organiser strictly prohibits and strongly discourages the sale, exchange and transfer of race entries. This is because Race Bibs contain the registered runner’s medical information and emergency contacts, which is important for the medical teams to provide immediate medical assistance should an accident occur.

If I register for the Marathon and I can only manage to run the Half Marathon on race day, can I still get the Half Marathon’s Finisher’s Medal and Finisher’s Certificate?

No. Race category and distance are strictly non-transferable. Participants who do not complete the race category they have registered for will not be entitled for the Finisher’s Entitlements.

What happens when I’m still in the midst of the race after the respective category’s cut off mark?

Participants who are unlikely to finish the race within the respective category’s cut-off times will be diverted and disqualified (‘DNF’). Details of designated diversion points along the race route, will be announced closer to event day.

Full Marathon/Ekiden (42.195KM) – 8 hours after last flag off
Half Marathon (21.1KM) – 4 hours after last flag off
10KM/10KM Wheelchair – 2 hours afer last flag off

For the safety of the participants and to avoid being caught in between live traffic, participants must obey as instructed during diversion; otherwise they will be pulled off the race course immediately.

Will I still receive the Finisher’s T-shirt, Finisher’s Medal and Finisher’s certificate after the eight (8) hour cut off mark (only applicable for Full Marathon and Ekiden participants)?

Full Marathon participants who are diverted to the shorter route will not be entitled to receive the Finisher’s T-shirt and Finisher’s Medal upon crossing the finish line.

Also, they will not receive the Finisher’s Electronic-Certificate, and their race timings will not be recorded as they will be deemed disqualified (‘DNF’).

When will the 2016 Finisher’s certificate be available and will it be hard copy or electronic copy?

SCMS 2016 participants will be able to download their Electronic-Certificates from 12pm on the following day, 5 December 2016.

What if I am injured during the race or otherwise unable to finish the race?

First aid stations will be located along the routes. Medical assistance will be available to attend injured participants.

However, these participants will not be issued their Finisher’s T-shirt (only applicable for Full Marathon and Ekiden participants), Finisher’s Medal or Finisher’s e-Certificate.

What are the criteria for the Corporate Distance Challenge 2016?

Only companies who take up the Bulk Registration or Corporate Hospitality Packages are eligible to compete for this challenge. The total completed distance covered by all the registered participants from a singular organisation will be accumulated and clocked under their company’s distance challenge, regardless of their race category or finishing time. Only participants who have successfully completed the race they have registered for, will be considered for the Corporate Distance Challenge 2016. Participants must not be disqualified, for any reason whatsoever.

What happens if the race is called off because of bad weather or any unforeseen circumstances?

In view of the safety and well-being of the participants, the Organiser may decide to call off the race due to bad weather or any unforeseen circumstances. Participants who are on the routes will be diverted by route marshals to nearby shelter areas.

Will the participants be refunded with their money if the race is called off due to bad weather, etc?

If the race has to be cancelled due to bad weather or any unforeseen circumstances, there will be no refund made, as stated in the Rules & Regulations.

Transport

Why are there no trains on Race Day morning? What transportation options are available?

No train service will be available during the early morning of 4 December due to “track maintenance”.

The SCMS team had been in-depth discussion with relevant authorities on the earlier start time and the need for earlier train services. Following confirmation that no early train service will be available, we have put together the private chartered bus arrangement to offer runners a way to access the Start Line. Alternative transport such as Uber, taxis and self-drive are available. For more details, please refer to http://www.marathonsingapore.com/transport.

Based on past events’ transportation data, we have planned for ample buses to meet runners’ needs. We do however request runners to arrive at the selected pick-up locations on time – so that the buses can depart on time and access the Start Line before full road closure is implemented for participants’ safety.

If I choose to take the private chartered bus, how do I know which bus to take?

If you are doing Full / Half Marathon (Start Line @ Orchard Road)
This year, we are conducting wave starts for Full and Half Marathon to alleviate issues of congestion. Each runner will run with their peers based on their race-times and start the race in batches from 4.30am

Each Full / Half Marathon runner would have received an email stating their specific Start Time, Start Pen, Recommended Private Chartered Bus and Recommended Drop-off Point. Select the bus route based on your desired pick-up location and click here to buy the tickets by 25 Nov.

If you are doing 10km Race
2 buses are available at 4am and 5am. Flag-off is 6.45am at Esplanade Drive. We recommend you taking the 4am bus if you wish to utilise the baggage service. Please select the bus route based on your desired pick-up location and click here to buy the tickets by 25 Nov.

Where exactly are the pick-up locations?

FB_TRANSPORT_2.1

The table shows the 30 pick-up points located island-wide. On Race Day, there will be event marshals at each location to facilitate the process.
See exact location of each bus pick-up points here:

How do the buses work? / Do I need to queue at pick-up location? / How many buses are available at each pick-up location?

Based on demand, we will allocate a suitable number of buses to each location to meet runners’ needs. Runners will form a queue at each pick-up location and board the bus accordingly. The buses will depart to the designated drop-off location near the Start Line.

Runners are encouraged to get to the pick-up location 15 min before the departure time. Event marshals will be stationed at each location to facilitate the process. No latecomers will be entertained.

How can I sign up for a place on the bus?

Participants who wish to sign up for private chartered bus service can do so here: https://register.marathonsingapore.com/scms16/reg_scms16/login/type:check

I am an Ekiden runner, can I sign up for a place on the bus?

The first runner of each Ekiden team can take the private chartered bus to go Orchard *Scape to reach the start line.
Ekiden runners 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 can take the private chartered bus to go Crescent Drive where they will be spread to their respective ekident points.

How do I verify proof of purchase for bus ticket?

When you collect your race pack at Race Entry Pack Collection (REPC) during 1 – 3 December, you will also collect a bus ticket wristband. You need to show it to the bus marshal when boarding the bus as proof of ticketing.

What are the bus interval times for each location?

Each location will have 4 pick-up timings:

For Half and Full Marathon participants: 2am and 3am
For 10km participants: 4am and 5am

Transportation details are available on the following website: http://www.marathonsingapore.com/transport

How long will the bus take to reach the drop-off points near the start line?

Each route journey will take between 20 – 45 minutes.

How can I verify my bus-ticket purchase?

Once you have purchased your bus ticket, you can double check your bus details on your runner’s account page: https://register.marathonsingapore.com/scms16/reg_scms16/login/type:check

Will there be congestion around the Start Line due to the buses? Will this affect the start times?

Organisers have ensured that bus timings are scheduled to arrive and depart at specific intervals. This is to ensure a smooth flow of traffic and that participants will arrive well before the flag-off.

Can I change my mind about the bus I have selected? / Are bus tickets exchangeable or transferrable?

Should you choose to purchase the bus ticket, please note that each runner is limited only to 1 purchase and it is neither exchangeable nor transferable.

Alternative transport such as Uber, taxis and self-drive are available. For more details, please refer to http://www.marathonsingapore.com/transport.
